1.0 Data Policy
We use data to improve our products, personalize content, and improve the customer service and technical support we provide. Using personal information outside of these purposes has no application for our business and is not of interest to us.
What matters to us is understanding how our products and Services are used so we can continue improving them over time, build products people love, and conduct ourselves in a fair and respectful manner.
We are opposed to sharing personally identifiable information with third parties unless it is with your permission or is strictly necessary to provide you with a better experience using our products or Services.

3.1 Connected Products & Services
When you connect your Nanoleaf Smarter Series devices to Nanoleaf's servers, we collect event data based on direct interactions with your devices. This includes:
- Turning lights on and off
- Adjusting brightness
- Setting Scenes
- Setting colors
This data is fed into Nanoleaf's algorithms and analysis tools and is used to provide you access to advanced features and product enhancements.
3.2 Mobile & Desktop Applications
Our mobile and desktop applications collect anonymized usage data on how the applications are used. This data is used for the purposes of enhancing the application experience. You may choose to share content with the Nanoleaf Community through our applications. This content is collected and stored once submitted.
3.3 Website Information
Our website collects information to help us understand our customers and create the best experience possible. This data includes things like your IP address, cookie ID, web browser, location, and pages you visit on our website.
Our website uses a number of analysis services to help us identify patterns of behavior, offer personalized content, and improve our products. We do not collect personally identifiable information from these services; however, they may collect information that they do not share with us in accordance with their own privacy policies.

3.5 Purchases & Marketing Communications
When purchasing items from the Nanoleaf Shop, you voluntarily give us your name, email address, payment information, billing and shipping addresses, and telephone number. We use this information solely for processing your order.
If you have opted in to receive marketing communications from us, we will send you promotional offers from time to time.
You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of any message. This prevents any promotional emails from being sent to you unless you explicitly request that we re-add you to a promotional list.

4.1 Cookies & Log Files
We use browser cookies ("cookies") and server log files to help operate, improve, and secure our website, as well as enhance your browsing experience.

5.1 Protecting Your Information
We take reasonable precautions to protect your personal data. Personally identifiable information provided through our store, including purchases and account details, is encrypted using SSL and stored with AES-256 encryption.
5.2 E-Commerce Platform
The Nanoleaf Shop is hosted by Shopify. For more information on Shopify's data-handling practices, please refer to their Terms of Service and Privacy Statement.
5.3 Marketing & Loyalty Services
Our email marketing communications are managed through Klaviyo, which securely stores the data you provide when you subscribe to our newsletters, marketing updates, or promotional messages.
For customers in the United States, SMS marketing communications are also managed through Klaviyo. You can review Klaviyo's Privacy Policy to learn more about how your data is handled.
The Nanoleaf Perks loyalty program is administered by Smile.io. You may wish to refer to their Privacy Policy for further information.
5.4 Product Security
Additionally, our Smarter Series products use advanced encryption technologies to help secure communications with supported smart home platforms, wireless protocols, and connected services, including but not limited to, Apple HomeKit, Matter, Thread, and Zigbee, where applicable.
5.5 Product Security Updates & Vulnerability Reporting
Nanoleaf provides security updates for its smart lighting products for a defined support period, which may vary by product model and region. Security updates are delivered through the Nanoleaf App, and documented release notes for product and firmware updates are available on our Knowledge Base, along with a detailed product support list for all regions.
For products supplied in Australia, the applicable security update support period are also published on our Knowledge Base and apply in accordance with Australian regulatory requirements.

6.0 Sharing Your Personal Information
6.1 When We Share Your Information
We will not disclose your personal information to third parties, except if, and to the extent necessary, in our good faith judgment, doing so is required by law, for the transactional needs of facilitating e-commerce orders, for administering the Nanoleaf Perks program, or where you have given explicit consent.
6.2 Smart Home & Connected Services
We may share your data with supported third-party connected services, including Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Homey, IFTTT, and others, when you choose to connect your Nanoleaf Account with these services. In all cases, our service will ask for your permission before sharing any information.
These sites operate independently of us and have established their own privacy and security policies. Any personal information you choose to share with third parties is subject to that third party's privacy policy.
We encourage you to review these policies at any site you visit.
This Policy does not apply to such linked pages or other sites, and we are not responsible for the content or practices of any linked websites that are provided solely for your convenience.
6.3 Marketing Communications
Nanoleaf also uses Klaviyo to send marketing emails to users who have opted in.
For customers in the United States, Klaviyo also manages SMS marketing communications.
Through Klaviyo, we collect information such as your email address, phone number (where applicable), and engagement data to help us deliver relevant communications and improve your experience.
6.4 Audio Processing
For products that visualize audio and contain a microphone, the audio is not recorded or shared with third parties; it is visualized locally in real time on the device hardware.
7.0 Children's Privacy
While we design our products to be simple enough for use by all family members, we do not specifically target our products toward children under the age of 13.
We do not intend to collect personal information from children under the age of 13, and we encourage parents and guardians to supervise how children share information online.
If we become aware that we have unknowingly collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to delete such personal information from our records.

8.1 Marketing Communications
You may stop receiving marketing emails from us by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of any message. This prevents promotional emails from being sent to you unless you explicitly request that we re-add you to our marketing communications.

If you would like to review the personal information we hold in connection with your account; withdraw your consent for our use and disclosure of your personal information; request a list of third parties to which we may have provided your personal information; or amend your personal information, where possible, you can contact us using this form.
